Yeah. So last night around 11:30, I was outside having a smoke before bed, just hanging with the cat on the front steps when from around the other side of my house I heard a quick "BLAM! BLAM! (slight pause here) BLAM!".
It was obviously gunshots and not fireworks. Big Kitty took off running and I hopped quickly into the house, locking the door behind me. The ghoul came upstairs pretty quickly and Marie hopped out of bed. I peeked out the windows for a few minutes wondering if I should call the police when a squad car drove up. I got my shoes on and went back outside to talk to the officers.
I turned the corner onto Columbia and saw the cops standing over a guy laying on the sidewalk. Thinking that I would just be in the way I went back inside and waited. The police put up "Police Line : Do Not Cross" tape all over my front yard. My driveway was completely sealed in red "Crime Scene" tape.
More police came. Then a fire truck and an ambulance. A while later, through my bedroom window I heard someone say that "Homicide is on the way".
I finally drifted off to sleep, but not for long. Around 1:15 the cops knocked on the front door and took statements form Marie and I. He was followed immediately by the homicide detective, who asked pretty much the same questions, but wanted a few more details.
The police said there were conflicting reports from people about the number of shots. I heard three, Marie heard two and it seems like our neighbors were undecided also.
There were police in my yard all night.
This morning I woke up early. Swarms of news vans were parked outside. I waited as long as I could, but finally had to go have a smoke. Fox news was on Marie and I like a hawk. I got to answer a few questions for the camera. I gave my name as "Heywood Jablowme" (sound it out) but the reporter wasn't buying it.
Anyway, I may be on the news today. If I can find a video of me online I'll post it.
Here's a quick link to a story about the incident on
centraldistrictnews.com.
For those of you who follow my blog religiously here's an update to the
samurai sword incident I blogged about a couple months ago. I guess the woman didn't chop anyone up like I had been led to believe. If you watch the video, the second half where they interview the police woman was filmed in front of my house.
*edit* I know this post is full of grammatical errors. I'm to tired to care. I only slept like four hours last night.
